ABERRATION (EN)
ABERRATION
Moral, environmental, economic, architectural, esthetic aberrations…The deviations regarding common sense or the norm are multiple. They destabilize and provoke contradictory reactions. They can simultaneously make us smile, revolt us, and stimulate our creativity to try and compose with them.
Referring to the origin of the astronomical term, which signifies a gap between the visible direction of a star and its true direction, ABERRATION underpins a chorographical study that tests our aptitude to imagine perspectives of reconstruction after the sudden deviation of a life-trajectory.
Using for example the study of optical aberrations to achieve this. Appreciating how the geometrical and chromatic deformations of image enrich perception. In a series of attempts to recover the senses in the same way one recovers sight, this chorographical wandering offers us the possibility of redefining form and color by beginning with questioning the void, the “nothing before all beginnings” that, as Kandinsky also said, “is full of living possibilities.”
ABERRATION conceives itself as a divergent prism, an invitation to activate a new calibration of emotions without judging their coherence, and to accept the new organization of altered reminiscences that this in turn produces. It acts as a landslide toward an out-of-sync and subtly absurd universe, provoking a variety of troubling sensations, such as that of going to bed as David Bowie and waking up as Ziggy Stardust.
